HOST A STARGIRL INNER BEAUTY PAGEANT

Hi Everyone,

The Stargirl Inner Beauty Pageant is one of our favorite Stargirl activities.  Educational research by Sir Ken Robinson and Daniel Pink reveals that students are highly motivated when given the opportunity to pursue their passion or areas of high interest.  (See their books highlighted at the end of this post)

To host a successful Inner Beauty Pageant, follow these steps:

1.  Announce to the Stargirls that we will be hosting and Inner Beauty Pageant. 
2. This will be an opportunity to share a talent, passion, interest, or story with our group of Stargirl friends.
3.  Discuss how Stargirl was a unique individual.  What were her passions and interests?   
4. (For example, at the Inner Beauty Pageant:  Stargirl might play the ukulele and sing a song, or  write  an original song, she might do a cheer,  or she could share the special scrapbook that she made for the little boy growing up across the street.
5. Allow time for the girls to discuss their own individuality and what they might present.
6. The Inner Beauty Pageant Program:  Set up a designated area for the event and a seating area.  Some girls may be shy and just want to watch. They may be inspired after watching others to join in.
